Empowering Youth, Students, and Non-Profits with Digital Data Collection Skills

The KoboToolbox Crash Course Series is a national capacity-building initiative led by the KoboToolbox Ambassador for Zimbabwe, organized by GeoConnect and supported by KM-Spatial. This free, in-person training program is designed to equip participants with the practical skills needed to harness KoboToolbox, a powerful open-source platform for mobile and digital data collection widely used in research, humanitarian work, and community development.

  • Introduction to KoboToolbox and its global applications.

  • Creating, designing, and customizing digital forms using Formbuilder and XLSForm.

  • Setting up skip logic, validation, and constraints for smarter data collection.

  • Using KoboCollect and Enketo for field surveys.

  • Managing, monitoring, and exporting collected data.

  • Best practices in ethical and responsible data collection.

Participation is by application to ensure that motivated individuals benefit fully from the program.

  • Applicants will complete a short registration form, which also serves as a mini-baseline survey to tailor the course content.

  • Selection is based on relevance to career aspirations, motivation, and availability to attend the full-day session.

  • Successful applicants will be notified by email at least 3 days before the event.

Event Details

  • Format: 1-day intensive workshop, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

  • Breaks: Tea Break (10:30–11:00 AM), Lunch Break (1:00–2:00 PM).

  • Seats Available: Limited to 20–25 participants per city to ensure quality engagement.

  • Cost: Free of Charge (with suport from GeoConnect).
